NFL Draft: What changes with Brady going to the Buccaneers

Tom Brady has been with the Patriots for 20 seasons and has gathered 6 Super Bowl rings, 9 Super Bowl appearances, 58 game-winning drives, and a bunch of other crazy stats. However, even before the end of the 2019 season, it was being debated if Brady would still be with the Patriots for the 2020 season. I couldn't see him leaving for a while because he built a dynasty with the Patriots, he had arguably the best head coach in the NFL, and he had been with them for so long that with him getting older would there be any point in finding a new team if he was going to retire soon. However, Brady didn't seem like he was ready to retire anytime soon, and there were a few reasons I read about and saw that made me understand why he might want to leave. First, one of his biggest weapons retired and overall the offense was never the same after Gronk left. I also read about some disagreements with Brady, Bill Belichick, and the front offices. Second, the money, every NFL player searches for where they get the most money, and the Buccaneers offered $30 million per year. Shortly after Tom Brady decided that the Buccaneers would be his new team. I can't imagine what the NFL will be like with Tom Brady not in New England, but I'm sure it will be something different and the Buccaneers will be a threat.

Who will be the Patriots New QB?

Now that Tom Brady will no longer be in New England, the Patriots will need a new quarterback whether they be a long term solution or a short one. One of the better options would be Cam Newton, the former MVP and Panthers quarterback until injury started to affect his play and he and the Panthers decided to part ways. Cam Newton is currently still trying to get back to his prime condition where he can be the MVP quarterback that he was when he took the Panthers to the Super Bowl. He is a big quarterback who can run the ball and throw deep passes to open receivers as well as make miracles happen when they need to. Now that he is in free agency teams have been making him offers and the Patriots would be a good option for him. He would have dangerous weapons at his disposal as well Bill Belichick to help develop him into a better quarterback and make a dangerous offense around Cam Newton.

Andy Dalton has also been an option that the Patriots are considering for their quarterback next season. The former Bengals quarterback has had many struggling seasons and was even benched for a period of time being replaced by a rookie. He is now in free agency and is looking for a team that will help him be better and have more success. Bill Belichick has stated that he believes Andy Dalton has a lot of potential and can be a really good quarterback with the right offense behind him. He has good size, but is older than Cam Newton so I don't see this as a better option than Newton, but maybe with the right offense he can shine.

While other options have been explored like drafting a quarterback or having the second year Jarrett Stidham, but I believe that Andy Dalton or Cam Newton are more likely options. Whoever is under center for the 2020 season, it will be interesting to see the New England Patriots next season.
